About This Piece
Magnificent hand-engraved Book of Kells pendant . The use of different textures is very evident in the making of this sensational pendant. The area behind the intricate swirls and curves have what is known as a sandblast finish. This grainy finish appears to cast shadows and light to reflect the immense beauty of the sharp clean pattern configuration. The two-tone effect is quite breathtaking with its wonderful contrast of matte and shiny finish.
The delicate soft oval shape is ultra feminine and pretty adding to the beauty of this timeless creation. No detail has been overlooked including the decorated tapered bale which features a discreet trinity knot emblem.
The reverse side is polished to a gleaming mirror sheen where a name or word can be engraved.
The inspiration of the spirals is from one of the Book of Kells Pages. The spiral motif has a long history dating back over 5000 to the Megalithic art of the Boyne.
