Welcome to
Once Upon a Bookshelf - A bookstore for people who love books. My
wife and I have been selling books on-line for almost 20 years. Know that your
purchase goes directly to supporting our livelihood, and our ability to
continue making special collections of books available to those who do not have
access to a local bookstore. Years ago we set out to hand-select “A Complete Dr. Seuss Set”. We researched
and studied and learned it was almost impossible to call any collection of Dr.
Seuss books “complete”. His publishing had been so prolific through decades of
writing, and even posthumously over the years there has been continued
publications of new titles. Additionally, there are many books written by Dr. Seuss and illustrated by
others, such as the many books by “Theo. LeSieg" (Theo[dore] Geisel (Dr.
Seuss’ real name) spelled backwards). There are titles “based upon” or
“inspired by” and posthumously many special editions, collection, board books,
baby books, picture dictionaries, coloring books, and many, many, others. This
set is what I believe includes every one of the accepted standard
"cannon" of his published works, except for titles which are
out-of-print. I don't know every-thing about every-title ever-published under
the Dr. Seuss name, but if you are wondering about something which you think is
missing, or wondering about a particular title, just get in touch. I'm happy to
share with you what I know. AND : An
adorable TREASURE BOX of assorted Dr. Seuss school supply trinkets to
round out the collection and add some whimsy and fun. Includes a Cat-in-the-Hat
pen, notepads, erasers, colorful pens, pencils, bookmarks, key chains, stickers, and even a
miniature Dr. Seuss book! Great For Dr. Seuss Party Supplies!! As for the
books: These are all beautiful matching hardcover
editions. There are no board books, or baby books. I have organized the titles into four basic
categories. Those being: The “Classics” which are the large 8X11 best-known stories. These are the more
elaborately illustrated titles, the “bedtime stories” which are generally
intended for adults to read aloud to children. Then there
are the Beginner Books which are titles written for children to learn to
read on their own (such as "Hop on Pop”, “Green Eggs and Ham”, “One Fish,
Two Fish”) Those are 9X7, sized such that the child can hold the books in
their hands. The Bright
and Early Series includes titles written by Dr. Seuss but illustrated by
others. Many of these are generally, but not always, lesser known titles (such
as “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?”, “In A People House”, “A Great Day for Up!),
and these are also sized 9X7. Lastly there are a few of the more grown up titles (such as “Oh, The Places
You’ll Go” and “You’re Only Old Once”) plus posthumous publications, and other
assorted collections. I have also included "Who Was Dr. Seuss?" - a
graphic biography of the author and even "What Was I Scared Of?" a
glow-in-dark story. Plus, the newest title published in 2023, " How The Grinch Lost Christmas! " The Dr. Seuss Classics 1. The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
